The takeoff

ANWB aims for zero road casualties in 2050. In order to achieve this ambitious goal it is of vital importance that kids start learning about road safety from an early age. The earlier they learn how to ride a bike and get safely from point A to point B the more responsible road users they’ll become in the future.

The outlook

ANWB already offers an all round educational road safety program to elementaries schools throughout the Netherlands. But, road safety is not only something that should be taught in school, but also at home. Together with &ranj, we challenged ourselves to come up with an educational concept that teaches kids about road safety in a fun and appealing way at home.

The Delivery

A story driven road safety game

Streetwise is a fictional digital world in which a bunch of road raging streetwacko’s are causing chaos and turmoil in the streets. By completing a variety of traffic missions, each with its own traffic theme, kids can take on the streetwacko’s and make the streets safe again. Next to that, kids can unlock a special augmented reality mission in which the Streetwise world comes to life. The app also offers special bonus missions that challenge kids to go out on the streets with their parents to get a real-life traffic experience and collect digital rewards.

The app has been developed in close collaboration with kids, parents and traffic- and education specialists in order to create a fun and educational experience for kids between 8 and 12 years old. The app can be downloaded for free in the app store & play store.
